A Hands-On Learning Experience

Create a meaningful learning experience for your students with a field trip to Clearwater Farm. One of the great things about Clearwater Farm is that “children” of ALL ages can enjoy our farm.  From babies, all the way up to grandma and grandpa, our goal is to make sure everyone in your group leaves with memories they will cherish! Field Trips are offered on a limited basis.  Our field trip program is targeted primarily to pre-school through 6th grade and availability depends on our volunteers’ schedules. Please be patient while we find a time that works for everyone.

At the start of your field trip, we will gather together for a brief introduction. Then students will rotate through 3 areas of the Farm: Animal, Garden, and Craft.

Station 1: Barnyard Buddies

This station takes a look at the Farm Animals from inside and outside the barn. Come meet our farm animals up close and personal. We will learn about how to safely interact with animals, the different jobs of the farm, and the many hands that it takes to care for a farm. Students will have a chance to pet and feed the barnyard animals. They will meet sheep, goats, donkeys, a llama, chickens, turkeys, mini horses, and cats.

A hand-washing station is provided, and hand-washing is required after touching the animals.

For the safety of everyone, only Clearwater Farm volunteers are allowed in the fields with the animals.

Station 2: From Seed to Harvest

This station takes students on the a tour of the Community Garden. Garden tours are dependent on the time of year and Garden Volunteer availability. We all need fruits and vegetables to grow up healthy and strong. Come see how we grow them on our farm. Each passing season brings a new stage to our garden. We are excited for you to get your hands dirty and learn as we plant, weed, or harvest and taste some of our crops. Students will have a chance to wander the garden and go on a scavenger hunt.

Large groups will be asked to split into 2 or 3 smaller groups. Please have these groups arranged prior to arrival.

Station 3: Get Your Craft On!

This station gives students an opportunity to express their creativity through various hands-on educational craft projects, designed for all ages and skill levels. Kids will love trying out all sorts of new materials and techniques while learning about nature and our environment.

It’s time to get a little messy—and unleash your imagination!
